Applying for Food Stamps
All households must be given the opportunity to apply for food stamps.
Depending upon the applicant's circumstances, the application may be filed:

- In person
- Through an authorized representative
- Through the mail
|

The application can be signed by:

- The head of household or spouse
- A responsible household member
- An authorized representative

- Common Application for Public Assistance - Medical Assistance - Food Stamps - Services
- Food Stamp Application Statement for SSI Recipients and Group Living Residents

Client Responsibilities
Client steps in the application process include:

- Filing and completing an application
- Completing a face to face interview
- Providing verification and documentation of required information
|
|
Exceptions to the face to face requirement are made for the following:
|
- SSI live alones and those living with their spouse (Face to face interviews can be waived.)
- Households where all household members cannot come to the office because of age (60+) or handicap (a telephone interview may be substituted for a face to face interview.)
